Commercial “At the Fair” Options

Dial-up Options:

Long the traditional favorite, dial up terminals require a landline connection in order to process transactions. These are typically rented from the Fairgrounds. Rental fees vary from one location to the next. Dial-up terminals are the least costly terminals. Click here for the current credit card terminal list and pricing. Volume discounts available.

Wireless Options:

Wireless terminals come in two distinct varieties. The first is the most common and works on the same technology as a cell phone. It also works anywhere a cell phone does (based on carrier coverage). The second type requires local set-up, but is also very efficient, and this is WiFi. It requires a local WiFi connection in order to process transactions. This is set up with the Fairground first and is then offered to the exhibitors. Wireless (or WiFi) terminals are more costly as they require internal modems and monthly fees. However, getting a swiped transaction from a client often saves as much as Click here (goes to the products section) for the current credit card terminal list and pricing. Building Internet Sales for year round income:

Your presence at the Fair opens many, many new prospective clients to you. In fact, being at the Fair is one of the best promotional activities any business could invest in. However, many times we have heard clients ask how they get in touch after the Fair is over. While you want to get all the business you can and not put off the advantage of the impulse buy, you can also capitalize on the contacts you make long after the fair is over. Building a website and offering information and the ability to make the purchase online, is the new way of maximizing your promotion investment and expanding your business. Don’t forget to use Fair Payment Processing, powered by UMS Banking for smooth money handling.

After the Fair

If you own a business on Main Street, Besttown, USA and make the smart investment in showing at the Fair, you would do well to also check into the facility of using Fair Payment Processing (UMS Banking) as your year round payment processor. We can offer dial-up or wireless terminals for your BBQ Grill Center, or Feed and Tack store, etc, and when you get ready to go to the Fair, we can give you a short term rental on the equipment you’ll need at the Fair. Work with a reliable company.

Hometown USA Retail Store

UMS Banking has been servicing Retail, Mail Order and Internet business since 1987. We offer dial-up, IP (broadband), Mobile, software and even cash register processing for businesses. In addition, there are a host of other services such as gift card, ACH (checking account auto-debit/credit), cash-dispensing ATM, and other payment processing solutions, which we offer.

Entertainment

At the Fair Options

We recommend any entertainer get set up for onsite sales with a Mobile terminal. This captures onsite sales with customer present, card swiped sales, which typically saves a full one to two percent of the cost of processing. This equates to $100 to $200 savings on every $10,000 in sales. The other issue is impulse buying. If someone can put the purchase on a credit card, they will often (in the afterglow of being entertained) purchase 10 products instead of one, as they want to share with their friends as well.

Product Sales (CDs, DVDs, etc)

As above, with a Mobile terminal you will typically double to triple your cash only sales. The impulse buy goes on the card.

Private Performance Billing

Part of your promotion at the Fair is to build up your bookings year round. If you offer credit card acceptance, you will find you will get more birthday parties, more private school events, more business – because you take credit cards!

Animal Rides

Cash is KING in the small ticket world. However, with the ability to accept credit cards, you open your doors to complete family packages, school groups, parties and more, as not many carry that kind of cash anymore. Instead of limiting your sales, throw the doors open, let the people in (with their plastic). Sell multiple ride cards instead of just one.

Food & Beverage

Specialty Foods/Fast Food

We got our start on the Fairgrounds, providing payment processing to the under served Food & Beverage sector. After signing up over 100 F & B providers (and gaining 20 pounds from sampling the merchandise) we have become the perfect partner for F & B operations. Whether you own one trailer or 500 shaved ice carts; whether you exclusively follow the fair schedule, or operate mall carts and food court locations, in addition to your Fair operations, we can provide you with the scalable options you need to collect as many payments as you possibly can. We have credit card terminals that will print out cash sales receipts when they are not putting through that $25 bakers’ dozen deep-fried Twinkees for the family of 7. We also have special interchange options offered by Visa and MC which cater to the small ticket environment (under $15 tickets).

Restaurant with Tips

Restaurants where the food is brought by a hostess and served at a table, opens the door to tips being added after the initial food sale, as is customary in a more brick and mortar type of establishment. If you run that House of BBQ sit down and eat location, or the Pie Tent or you should be on a TIP program so the customer has the option of adding a tip.

Service & Supplies

Any of the Service and Supply providers, the backbone of any Fairgrounds, Must offer credit card as a form of payment. This enables those last minute, unpredicted transactions to be thrown on a credit card so the show goes on. And, any Accounts Receivables (A/Rs) that are still outstanding – get a credit card account and stop carrying them on your books!
